Dr Christopher Rikard-Bell

MB.BS., FRANZCP

Dr Rikard-Bell graduated in Medicine from the University of NSW in 1978, and completed his psychiatric training in 1987. He obtained further qualifications in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and a Fellowship in Developmental Disability

Dr Rikard-Bell held these positions: Director of the Arndell Children’s Residential Unit, North Ryde; Lecturer in Child Psychiatry at Queensland University in 1992; and Staff Specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital. 

From 1995 Dr Rikard-Bell shared his professional time as a Visiting Medical Officer to Sutherland Hospital and Community Health in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and private practice at professional rooms Bondi Junction, where he sees adults, children and families.

Dr Rikard-Bell has an interest in childhood depression, psychosomatic disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder, developmental disability, children of the mentally ill and peri-natal psychiatry. He has publications in the area of psychiatric treatment in gaol, management of adolescents with chronic fatigue syndrome, critical incidents in paediatric hospitals and risk and prevention of childhood depression. He has presented papers at conferences regarding treatment of psychosocial aspects of severe asthma, separation anxiety, family management of a hyperactive child, management issues in a residential setting, critical incidents, post traumatic stress disorder and medico legal aspects of child psychiatry.
